Yes, wool duvets are naturally heavier than down, but this extra weight brings greater comfort and breathability.

For centuries, wool duvets have been the go-to choice for natural, restful sleep. Unlike down, wool is highly effective at moisture management, wicking away excess humidity to keep you cool, dry, and comfortable throughout the night.

The result? A cosy yet breathable duvet that helps regulate temperature and prevent overheating, ensuring a restful, uninterrupted sleep, all year-round.

Wool is one of nature’s cleverest materials - it’s breathable, moisture-wicking, and temperature regulating, allowing you to stay cool in the heat and warm when the chill sets in. Unlike synthetic fibres or heavy down, wool works with your body, not against it.

Let’s talk about allergens. Wool is naturally resistant to dust mites, mould and mildew, which makes it a dream for anyone with sensitivities. It’s also odour-resistant and doesn’t trap moisture, so it stays fresher for longer.

Our British traceable Cheviot wool blend is what really sets us apart - it’s fluffier, comfier and more breathable than anything else out there. This isn’t just bedding - it’s a proper sleep upgrade.

Wool is 100% natural, renewable and biodegradable, making it kinder to the planet, too. No plastic microfibres, no landfill guilt. We only use wool from responsible farms right here in the UK, so you can rest easy knowing your bedding supports local farmers and reduces environmental impact.

Sleep better, naturally.

Wool is a natural fibre famed for its thermo-regulatory qualities, meaning our duvets, toppers and mattresses will keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Our all-season duvet is an ideal investment for year-round sleep perfection. If you feel the cold and like additional weight during the coldest months, then our winter duvet could be the one for you.

Wool naturally allows air to circulate, stopping the build-up of bacteria and mould. This means our duvets are ideal for those living with conditions such as asthma or eczema.

Wool is sustainable and safe, providing a superior night's sleep. All our wool is sourced from British farms, and we can trace it from barn to bed. It's 100% renewable and natural - shearing wool from sheep is necessary for their health and welfare.

A British wool mattress offers naturally breathable, temperature-regulating comfort without relying on synthetic foams. Wool responds to your body's changing temperature throughout the night, helping keep you warm in winter and cool in summer while managing humidity around your body.

Unlike many conventional mattresses, a wool mattress also naturally resists dust mites and bacteria, making it an excellent choice for healthier sleep. At Floks, every mattress is handcrafted in Yorkshire using traceable British wool alongside hemp, flax and thousands of precision-engineered pocket springs.

No. This is one of the biggest misconceptions about wool.

Wool is nature's temperature regulator. Rather than trapping heat like many synthetic materials and memory foams, wool helps move moisture away from your body while allowing air to circulate naturally.

This helps maintain a comfortable sleeping temperature throughout the night, making wool an excellent choice for both warm and cool sleepers.

Yes. If you often wake up feeling hot or sweaty, a wool mattress can make a noticeable difference.

Wool fibres absorb moisture vapour before it becomes sweat, helping reduce overheating and creating a drier, more comfortable sleep environment. Combined with breathable natural fibres and pocket springs, wool allows heat to dissipate more effectively than foam mattresses.

The healthiest mattress is one that supports your body while creating a breathable, low-chemical sleep environment.

Floks mattresses are:

  • Glue free
  • Naturally fire resistant without added FR chemicals
  • Made with breathable British wool, hemp and flax
  • Handcrafted in Yorkshire

Natural materials help regulate temperature and humidity while reducing reliance on synthetic materials commonly found in conventional mattresses.

Yes. Floks mattresses are naturally fire resistant thanks to the high wool content, meaning they do not require added FR chemical treatments.

Every mattress is also completely glue free, using natural upholstery layers and recyclable pocket spring systems instead.

Every Floks mattress is handcrafted in Yorkshire using traceable British wool and carefully selected natural fibres.

Unlike many modern mattresses that rely heavily on polyurethane foam, our collection combines breathable British wool, hemp, flax and precision-engineered pocket springs to create exceptional comfort, support and airflow. In order to secure the springs, only a small amount of recycled polyester is used.

It's a more natural way to sleep - designed to last for years.

Many allergy sufferers choose wool because it is naturally anti-allergy and regulates humidity

Dust mites thrive in warm, damp environments. Wool helps create a drier sleep environment, making conditions less favourable for dust mites while also naturally resisting bacteria and mould.

No.

Every Floks mattress is completely foam free. Instead of memory foam, comfort comes from generous layers of natural British wool combined with supportive pocket springs. Only a small amount of recycled polyester can be found in our mattresses and only where completely necessary.

This creates a more breathable sleeping surface with excellent pressure relief and long-lasting comfort.

No.

The wool is carefully cleaned and processed before being handcrafted into each mattress. When new, you may notice a subtle natural scent – similar to that of a new wool jumper, but this quickly disappears after the mattress has been aired.

A well-made wool mattress should provide 8 to 10 years of comfort.

Regular rotation and turning where applicable helps maintain even wear and prolongs the life of the natural fillings. Because wool is naturally resilient, it continues to perform exceptionally well over time.

Like any quality natural mattress, wool will gently settle as it adapts to your body.

This is completely normal and very different from sagging. Regular rotation and turning (where recommended) helps keep the fillings evenly distributed and maintains comfort for years. We can also help you find the right support level for you so that sagging does not occur.

Many customers find a wool mattress lasts significantly longer than cheaper synthetic alternatives while offering superior breathability and comfort, not to mention the healthier sleep environment that they create,

Because wool naturally regulates temperature and humidity, many people also experience a more comfortable night's sleep throughout the year.

A quality mattress is an investment in your sleep and you spend around a third of your life in bed.

A mattress alone cannot treat back pain, but good spinal support plays an important role in sleeping comfortably.

Floks mattresses combine supportive pocket springs with pressure-relieving natural wool to help keep your body comfortably aligned throughout the night.

Choosing the correct firmness is equally important, and our team can help you select the best option.

All Floks mattresses are available in Medium and Firm.

The right choice depends on your preferred sleeping position, body weight and the feel you enjoy and that your body is used to.

If you're unsure, our sleep specialists can guide you through the options.

Yes.

Side sleepers generally benefit from a mattress that cushions pressure points around the shoulders and hips while maintaining spinal alignment.

Our range includes different comfort levels to suit individual preferences.

Yes. Wool works exceptionally well alongside electric blankets because it naturally regulates temperature and distributes warmth evenly. Always follow the guidance provided by both the mattress and electric blanket manufacturers.

We recommend using a breathable natural wool or cotton mattress protector.

It helps keep your mattress cleaner, extends its lifespan and adds another layer of natural temperature regulation without affecting comfort.

Every Floks mattress is handcrafted in Yorkshire by expert bedmakers using traceable British wool and premium natural materials.

Keeping production in the UK allows us to maintain exceptional craftsmanship while supporting traditional manufacturing.

Yes.

Our mattresses are designed to minimise synthetic materials by using renewable natural fibres including British wool, hemp and flax.

They are foam free, glue free and built using recyclable pocket spring systems, creating a product designed for longevity rather than landfill.

To resolve this amicably, we combined the finest two materials available giving you the best of both worlds with a double-sided duvet cover and providing you with the ultimate sleep experience.

This innovative corner detail is a pocket for your hand to slot in and glide the duvet into the corner of the duvet cover. Rather than bunching up the corners of the duvet by holding onto them, this allows you to gently guide the duvet into place.

Keeping your Floks Wool Mattress Topper fresh is easy - and the best part? Nature does most of the work for you!

Yes you can, but you have to do it with care, and never in a washing machine. You can also hang your pillow case outside on a sunny day to refresh the wool instead of washing.

Here at Floks, we call shrinkage “felting” - Felting happens when wool fibres are twisted, agitated, or exposed to sudden temperature changes. Wool naturally has a crimp to it, which gets relaxed during it's natural processing. But if it’s handled roughly or washed incorrectly, the fibres tighten back up, causing that dreaded dense, shrunken feel.

The trick? Keep things gentle and consistent. The number one rule of washing wool is no agitation. The second? Match your water temperatures. If you start with warm water, rinse with warm water. If you wash in cold, rinse in cold. Sudden temperature shifts can shock the fibres, leading to unwanted shrinkage.

At Floks, we love wool for its cloud-like comfort and breathable magic. Follow these simple steps, and your quilted wool pillows will stay as plush and cosy as the day you got them.

  1. Unzip the case and carefully remove the loose wool or pillow from the case in one piece. Pop the filling outside in the sunshine on a clean surface.
  2. Using a mild, wool detergent, gently wash and rinse your pillow case in the same temperature water (a bath or large sink is ideal). Gently press the excess water out - never twist or squeeze.
  3. Leave your pillow case on a clean, flat surface to fully dry before re-filling

Enjoy your fresh pillow and have the best nights sleep with Floks natural, sustainable, luxury quilted wool pillow.

We would recommend our All-Season duvet if your house is well-insulated. It should help keep you cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
